Soup Kettle

Every Sunday from 2:30 to 5:30, EEFC Soup Kettle volunteers prepare and serve meals for those in need. And they provide transportation to and from the church for those partaking in the meals.  Six groups of volunteers serve as part of the Elgin Soup Kettle mission. EEFC is one of seven churches that participate. Each church is committed to serve a specific night of the week. For the complete Soup Kettle schedule, visit www.padsofelgin.org/shelter-services/soup-kettle/. To become a member of an EEFC Soup Kettle team, contact Angie Anderson at angie@elginefc.org.

Awana is a great place for kids to learn and grow through structured play and scripture memorization. Don’t tell your kids, they think it’s all fun and games.

Each week from September through May, neighborhood kids gather for fun and games and to learn Bible truths while memorizing scripture. The EEFC Awana program serves more than 120 children ages three through grade eight. The program puts the church in partnership with parents to develop strong children who faithfully follow Christ.

Children are welcome to begin the program at any time. Volunteers are still needed. To get involved, contact Rob Newby at  newby_r@prodigy.net.

Losing a loved one is a painful time when we need someone to come alongside us with compassion and grace. GriefShare provides support to those who are grieving.

GriefShare is a Biblical, Christ-centered grief recovery support group for those who have lost a loved one. It provides valuable tools, which help those experiencing loss to gain new insights and receive strength. The video series features real people, experts in the field of grief recovery, who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The workbook that accompanies the weekly video is a helpful tool which can be used on a daily basis.

GriefShare is a 13 week session and is held periodically each Tuesday evening from 7 - 9 PM in Room 3 on the first floor of the church. There will be a sign on the front door of the church with directions.

For information about the GriefShare sessions, location of the church or any other information, please call the church at (847) 695-8812 or visit griefshare.org.

Jail Ministry

Through jail visits, Bible lessons and regular correspondence, EEFC volunteers support inmates with who desire God’s grace. Learn to share the gospel with those who are hungry for His forgiveness.

On the fourth Sunday of each month, a group of men and women make a trip to Kane County Jail, bringing church services to inmates. Inmates in the monthly church service have expressed a desire to attend and want to be among Christian leaders and volunteers. This ministry is not only an excellent growth opportunity for the inmates to receive Christ and grow in discipleship it is also a great way for volunteers to learn to share the gospel.

In addition to jail visits, volunteers participate in a correspondence program, sending Bible lessons to inmates. These lessons provide a basic understanding of the Bible and salvation. When the inmates complete and return lessons to the church, volunteers review them, adding comments, prayers and encouragement.

For more information about the jail ministry, including the correspondence program, Steve Dominguez at doming@wideopenwest.com.
